B.Sc(HM), M(Chiro), Dip (Sports Chiro), Cert(AK). Cert (Webster)

My name is Sara Winchester. I was born in Gosford and I lived in numerous countries when I was a young child, before returning to Australia when I was nine. I went to high school in Canberra and I did my undergraduate degree in Human Movement (Science) at the University of Wollongong. I travelled around the world for a year after my undergraduate degree and then completed my Masters of Chiropractic at Macquarie University graduating in 2000.

I have a son who is an absolute joy in my life.  I love to exercise, do yoga, travel, communicate and inspire others. I was originally led to work with the body because of my admiration for the human body and its physical capabilities during my years as an elite gymnast. My cousin inspired me to become a chiropractor by teaching me about the body and by allowing me to observe him working in his practice in Port Augusta when I was in year nine at school. It was the amazing speed of progression and healing that I witnessed in patients during this time that really made me want to be a part of the profession.

I later learnt that my grandmother (now 96 and still regularly being adjusted) saw a chiropractor before registration was enforced. My mother had a serious car accident in her early 20s, which left her mute. The medical professionals concluded that it was psychological, however, Nana’s chiropractor suggested that she receive chiropractic care. The results were miraculous. Mum got her voice back and was then able to resume her career as a nurse. These kinds of amazing stories are common in the chiropractic profession.

I have chosen to devote my life to assisting people with their healing through chiropractic. My mission is to adjust, educate and inspire as many people in the world as possible. It is my dream that more and more people will take responsibility for their health and quality of life, which will produce extraordinary results in our world. I have plans to open numerous volunteer chiropractic clinics around the world, starting in Tanzania. These clinics will expose people from all cultures and socio-economic regions to experience optimal health.

I believe wholeheartedly in chiropractic philosophy, which states that removal of interference to the nervous system allows the body to express its innate intelligence and to heal itself. The nervous system is the communication system between the body and mind and removing interference to it has far reaching results (even beyond initial expectations). The human body is a truly remarkable organism and I feel privileged to work with it. It inspires and surprises me every day.

I established Total Chiropractic in this community because people in this area value wellness and optimising their health. The purpose of this clinic is to provide multi-disciplinary care to our patients. In this environment it is easy for the different practitioners to work together to provide the most effective care. We assist people to reach an optimal state of health and we educate them, so that they can maintain their health and wellbeing. Total Chiropractic is unique in this area due to our multi-disciplinary approach and our exceptional practitioners and reception staff.
